Sachems Defeat Cohasset 4-1

2017-18 Sachems Hitting Their Stride

The Middleboro/Hull Sachems defeated perennial rivals the Cohasset Mariners on Thursday, January 18 with a 4-1 victory. The Sachems put a solid 3 period effort in and with 2 wins in a row have improved their season record to 3 wins, 5 ties, and 4 losses.

The Mariners scored first early in the game with a little “puck luck” bounce that set up an easy goal.  After that it was all Sachems.  Middleboro freshman Jake Dagesse tied the game up in the 1st period when Middleboro senior Josh Dimond caught him sneaking behind the defense at the blue line, giving Jake a clear path to the net which he buried.  Middleboro senior Dylan Rees also had an assist on the play.

In the 2nd, the Sachems took a 2-1 lead on a short-handed goal when Middleboro senior Alex Steinman scored off a feed from Middleboro Junior Ian Yeskewicz.  The Sachems added to their lead to make it 3-1 in the 3rd when Steinman scored his 2nd of game with assists from linemates Yeskewicz and Dagesse.  Dagesse put the game out of reach at 4-1 late in the 3rd amidst a fierce empty net attack by the Mariners. Rees and Dimond both assisted with the empty-net goal.
